Most of the time, people want to spend time outdoors when they are in the New Smyrna Beach area. There are plenty of fun ways to spend time outdoors, but there are times when the weather calls for doing something inside. Summer months can be pretty warm, prompting people to want more indoor activities, and there are often afternoon thunderstorms that motivate people to head indoors.

 


During the summer months, the area tends to get an afternoon thunderstorm each day. Keeping this in mind, it’s a good idea to plan to be in your rental in the afternoon, or doing something indoors. Don’t get caught out in the storms, because lightning strikes are nothing to risk. Whether it’s rainy, hot, or you want a place to chill indoors, here are some fun activities you can check out:

Grab a ball and rent some shoes so you can play a few games of bowling. You will enjoy the place where locals also go bowling. This is a smaller bowling alley, but it never skimps on the fun.

Marine Science Center

 Learn about marine life as you stroll through this fun place. There are touch tanks, exhibits, and a turtle and rehabilitation hospital. 

Ask about being able to see their next turtle release. Maybe you can get lucky enough to catch a release of a rehabilitated turtle being set free in the ocean.

From feeding stingrays to enjoying the “Raptors Live” programs, there are many opportunities to learn about the wildlife that call Volusia County home. Come visit and learn at the Marine Science Center, and then take your newfound knowledge outside and explore the marine wonders at our doorstep.
